Using Film To Bring Annealed Glass Into Compliance With Safety Glazing Standards

In certain instances, annealed glass may be in a hazardous location due to remodeling or a building code change. This glass will have to be replaced with tempered glass or treated in such a fashion at to bring it into compliance with the applicable requirements of the stated code for the area. The application of an Armorcoat® by Solar Gard® film of the correct thickness can achieve this. These films have been tested by independent laboratories and have been determined to meet the requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z 97.1 and the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) 16 CFR 1201 tests for safety glazing materials. The current building codes require safety glazing materials meet one or both of these standards.

Armorcoat Safety and Security films from Solar Gard, when applied to the glass, can meet or exceed either of the aforementioned standards and bring the annealed glass into compliance with the applicable safety glazing requirement. It may be necessary to provide a copy of the pertinent test report and labels to indicate the glazing now meets the standard or standards. The Armorcoat Safety and Security films have test reports indicating passage of both the standards for 1/8" and ¼" glass.
