The purpose of reaction to fire testing is to determine whether a building fuels a fire. Some fire reaction criteria may include the rate at which a flame spreads, the ignitability when exposed to heat, the amount of heat, smoke, toxic gases, and/or flaming droplets/particles, etc. Building materials must often be tested to these types of standards to evaluate the performance of these materials when exposed to heat and fire. Solar Gard Armorcoat® 8 mil safety and security films have been tested to these standards and have been proven to be safe building materials that would not contribute to fire. (Note: these standards are not the same as fire resistance standards which measure the duration in time a product can withstand a fire.
